Historical significance
During the Vietnam War, the area around Bang Onsen Spa & Resort served as a field hospital for soldiers. The mineral-rich waters helped thousands of soldiers recover from injuries and regain their health. After years of neglect after the war, the Quang Binh provincial government recently entrusted Truong Thinh Group to develop the site. They transformed it into a tourism destination featuring Japanese-standard onsen services, including mineral baths, salt stone saunas, and spa rooms for health restoration.
Conservation
Kien Giang Town in Le Thuy District frequently experiences annual flooding. The mineral-rich waters of the hot spring, when mixed with the Kien Giang River, help mitigate some of the adverse effects of flooding.
Bang Onsen Spa & Resort is a fantastic year-round tourist destination, reducing the seasonality of Quang Binh tourism. It’s an ideal retreat for hot mineral baths, relaxation, and health recovery, especially during the winter and spring seasons. After exploring caves or dealing with work stress, soaking in the hot mineral waters will leave you refreshed and re-energized.
